The rhythm of a mobility year

Understanding why the dates sit where they sit makes planning easier:

  • February (19th, 12:00 Brussels) — the big gate. Both short-term projects (KA122) and the annual grant requests of accredited organisations (KA121) close here, for projects starting 1 June.
  • June–December — projects start. Staff mobility seasons peak in July and October.
  • September (29th) — the accreditation gate (KA120), for accreditations valid from 1 February 2027. Note the sequence: accredit in September, request funds the following February, travel from June.
  • October (1st) — if your national agency opens a second round for short-term projects, it closes here.

Practical consequence: if you’re planning courses for your staff, the budget that pays for a July 2027 course was requested in February 2027 and — for accredited organisations — enabled by an application submitted in September 2026. Course providers who publish their 2027–28 calendar early aren’t being generous; they’re matching how your funding actually works. (It’s also why we publish ours 18 months ahead.)

Second rounds: don’t plan on them

National agencies may open a second round with an October deadline. Some do most years, some never do, and the announcement comes on each agency’s website. Treat a second round as a lucky extra, not as a plan — the February gate is the one you build your year around.

Frequent questions

Are deadlines the same in every country?

The Call deadlines are Europe-wide, set in the Programme Guide. What varies by country: whether a second round opens (each national agency decides and announces it on its website), and national priorities.

What time do applications actually close?

12:00 midday Brussels time — not midnight. More applications die at 12:01 than anyone admits. Submit the day before.

When do funded activities start?

KA122 and KA121 projects from the February round start on 1 June of the same year. Accreditations granted under Call 2026 become valid on 1 February 2027.
