What Erasmus+ KA1 pays for
KA1 staff mobility is paid with unit costs: fixed amounts per person, per day or per distance. Here is each one for school staff, from the Programme Guide 2026, and what they add up to.
The unit costs, one by one

A worked example: a 5-day course in Spain
One teacher, a 5-day course, destination group 2, with an agency paying 110 € a day and a trip of 500-1999 km.

The course fee is only about 25 % of what the trip is worth. The rest is travel and living costs. That is why the daily allowance from your agency matters as much as the course itself: verified agencies pay between 106 and 169 € a day.
The 50 % rule. Courses and training can take at most 50 % of a project's grant (20,000 € for projects of up to 40,000 €). Plan courses alongside job shadowing or other activities.
Frequent questions
Who receives the course fee?
The sending organisation receives it in its grant, as 80 EUR per participant per day, and pays the course provider.
Does the host school get money for job shadowing?
The organisational support for job shadowing (350 EUR per participant) is shared between the sending and host organisations, as they agree. For courses, organisational support stays with the sending side.
Is there a limit on how much can go to courses?
Yes. Courses and training can take at most 50 % of the project grant, or 20,000 EUR for projects of up to 40,000 EUR.
